Discovery Trail

On the discovery trail we had to walk around Gilmore Girls College and find the total length of it.
Here is a picture of where we walked. It is shaped like a triangle.

The length to 'a'to 'b' is 186m

The length from 'c' to 'd' is 180m

The length from 'd' to 'e' is 247.5m

The length from 'e' to 'a' is 145m.

The total length is 758.5m

After that we went over to the Footscray art museum and did activity's there.
For the first one we had to make a circle with a radius of 1.5 m. We then made another circle with the radius of 3m. Using the trundle wheel the circumference of the small circle was 4.71 m.
The second circle's circumference was 9.42 m.

We then figured out what the circumference of a circle with a radius of 9 m is 24.27m.

Pipemakers Park

Footscray Park (Picture)

On the 28th of April my class went to Pipe Makers Park. We had to walk from Gilmore Girls College to Pipe Makers Park. It was about a 30-40 minute walk. We walked through the Footscray Park then along the Maribyrnong river.

When we arrived there we had to collect soil samples for our science experiment. After collecting the soil samples we split into groups and filled in our work sheets. We had to answer questions about pipe makers park history. We also had questions about the native plants that grew there.

After we finished our worksheets we had play lunch then we started out portrait for visual art.
Near about 12 o'clock we started walking back to school.

Visual Art

This is a portrait from Pipe makers Park.

This was drawn inside the gates.

This is a collage of me. It had different parts of people's eyes, mouth, hair and nose.

Drama/Humanities

I had to make a monologue about the community:

When i was young i used to live in Footscray Maribyrnong. I used to walk home at night along the Maribyrnong river. I used to like the lights that would show my way home. I remember the pipe makers factory, it was full of pipes and had the lingering smell of molded metal. After that i would walk past the tea house and marvel at its beauty. It's gone now, some idiotic people have burnt it down.
I would rotting in a large hole then pass the tannery factory, it was full of horrible smells, the smell of pee and waste rooting in a hole in the ground. I always knew that it would seep into the river and pollute it, but it took years for the government to realize that.

Science

During our excursions we colected soil samples. We also collected soils samples from Gilmoe Girls College.
We then used the soil samples for our science expirment. We put the soil in a crucible and heated it up with the bunsen burner. We stired it from time to time to stop if from making it stick together. We then sterilized the milk. After we done these things we put unsterilized milk and sterilized dirt togther and so on. After a couple of days we checked to see any changes.
The one that changed the most was the steril;ized milk and Unsterilized soil.

Maths

Day 1-In the first math class we learned how to find the center of a circle. They gave us a circle where we had to draw 3 dots on the boarder line. After we've drawn the dots we mad a triangle out of it. We then marked the middle of each line of the triangle. We then drew a line half using the half way marked dot. The lines all reached a center.

Day 2-In the second maths class we got given a sheet of paper to complete. We had to complete questions about equivalent fractions.
